Surprise!

I walk by this bush every day, and for the longest time I wondered what the balled up bundles of leaves were going to do. One day I noticed that they were starting to unfold into these flowering shapes, but they were still green and looked like the rest of the leaves on the plant. A few days later, the flowery leaves suddenly turned purple! I have no idea what this plant is, but it’s been pretty fascinating to watch. I’m grateful for the opportunity to observe and appreciate nature.
