I know that dandelions are weeds (and yard owners across America feel a burning rage inside when some neighbor kid blows the seeds into their perfectly-manicured lawns), but personally I can’t help but smile when I see little fields of dandelions in my neighborhood.

There’s something so whimsical about how the seeds drift on the breeze, and the mini-forests of tall dandelions remind me of the Truffula trees from Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax. They remind me of the wonder I experienced as a child, blowing on the dandelion and watching the seeds each take their own path, floating through the air with such grace and ease.

It amazes me how much variety and beauty there is in the natural things that grown around us, even in the plants that are considered weeds. What if we stopped seeing them as nuisances, and instead took a moment to appreciate their beauty and individuality?
