Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot in my iris garden. I love my iris and this is one of my favorites.

Time

I took this picture on a clear bright sunny day. The best pictures of my iris is when there is very little shadow.

Lighting

I like taking pictures on reall bright, sunny days if possible. A flash on a cloudy day may not give a good final picture.

Equipment

I use my Cannon Rebel XLT. Of course, during the bright part of the day, I don't need a flash. I get onto the ground in order to get a straight on shot of my flowers. If necessary, I will cut the flower and place in a better position.

Inspiration

This is one of my favorite irises and I take many photos of it each year.

Editing

The most post-processing I did was to crop it. It's beauty speaks for itself.

In my camera bag

I keep a Cannon Rebel XLT in my bad with both regular and long range lens in my bag along with any equipment needed for cleaning lenses. I also keep several cards so I don't get away and not have one with the camera.

Feedback

My advice to anyone is to take as many pictures of something so you can pick the absolute best one of it. Change your position, change your angle, even change the time of day if necessary.
