Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was a complete fluke. I was out taking pictures in my driveway, yard and along the road because it was an unusual amount of snow for southern Virginia. I looked across at my neighbor's driveway. They had evidently gone out that morning, backing up their driveway. I was surprised to see the hearts in the snow and couldn't resist taking the shot.

Time

The picture was taken in mid morning in full sunshine.

Lighting

There was no special lighting that I used. I was a beautiful sunny day after days of snow and gloom.

Equipment

I used my EOS Canon Digital Rebel XT. I used Aperture: f/13.0, ISO: 100, Exposure: 1/320 and Focal Length: 55/1.

Inspiration

I took this picture because it was so neat the way it made the perfect hearts. I don't think that even if I had tried, I could have made those hearts so perfectly with my car.

Editing

I do very little post-processing with the exception of cropping. Occasionally I will do a color adjustment but I prefer to take multiple shots and try to get at least 1 really good one out of them.

In my camera bag

I carry minimum equipment. I have my long range lens, close range lens, battery plug, and a "fanny pack" that will hold my lens. When I travel, I use a well padded thermal lunch bag because it is less bulky than my camera bag. I always have a camera in my purse. I just do not like being with out a camera.

Feedback

It is hard for me to give any advice since this picture was just an "accident" that I was able to catch. I guess my best advice is always notice your surroundings. I look at everything as if through a camera lens which I am sure every photographer does. My neighbor never saw the hearts until posted them on Facebook.
