Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in College studio in 2014.

Time

It was taken on 11 of February in 2015 at 11.45, it was taken during portraiture class where one of my classmates brought a professional model in so we could get little bit more experience.

Lighting

I used two lights to light up the background to make it properly high key. One light was placed on the right side of the camera behind the model what created nice highlights on the model face. Another light was placed on the left side of the camera and slightly on the model side that lit up the model face and left a shadow on the other side of his face what makes this picture very dramatic.

Equipment

For this picture I used my previous camera Nikon D7000 with 35mm 1.8 Nikkor. The lighting that I used was Bowens studio lighting kit.

Inspiration

Inspiration for this photograph I got from David Bailey where he took picture of Jude Law.

Editing

I turned the photo into black and white and made it very contrasty so whites and highlights would be stronger.

In my camera bag

-Right now I have Nikon D810, Sigma 24-70mm f2.8, Nikkor 50mm f1.8mm, Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6, Nikon SB-700 TTL flash.

Feedback

What makes this picture so interesting is the use of the light and obviously the model who is looking straight into the camera.
