I took this photo in my house on the landing of my staircase facing up towards the top of the stairs.Time

I used a Nikon D750 with Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 zoom. This shot was hand held. I shot this wide open at f2.8 because I wanted to blur and soften the background as much as possible and focus on her expression.Inspiration
I was walking around my house experimenting with my new lens and saw my cat Maddie at the top of the stairs in a pose that looked like she spotted something that made her think about attacking. There was a window behind me that was providing a nice soft light.Editing
I did some post processing in lightroom to adjust toning and sharpen a little. I added a radius filter to add a little more exposure to her face.In my camera bag
I normally have my D750, Nikon 70-200mm f28, 35-70 f2.8, 16-35 f4.0, 50mm f1.8, Samyang 24mm f1.4 with meFeedback
For a shot like this I really like a fast 70-200mm lens. It allows you to be far enough away to capture the natural expression and detail without distracting the subject. Just always be on the lookout for a photo opportunity and take a lot of photos. Eventually the law of averages blesses you with something really special.
