Behind The Lens
Location
I live on the Isle of Wight and i joined a hobby photographer group who held a day out at the local wildlife park. I took this one whilst all the others were having tea in the cafe! as it was feeding time for the penguins and figured it would be a good opportunity to practice some action shots. Sadly the park has now closed and I'm not sure where these lovely Humbolt penguins now liveTime
Exactly 11am, feeding time at the penguin enclosure.Lighting
NopeEquipment
This was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, I can't remember what lens I used.Inspiration
I took lots of shots of the penguins being fed, it was manic with all the penguins fighting each other for the fish that the crowd were throwing in for them. I was mainly taking pictures to practice action shots after taking a course on how to take action shots manually.Editing
This was a larger picture with more penguins in, but when I was looking through the photos I had taken I spotted these two fighting for the fish and so I cropped it to cut out all the other action going on around them. I may have also sharpened and given more clarity to the pictures using Lightroom but can not remember fully what I did.In my camera bag
I don't like to carry heavy equipment, so I have recently invested in a second hand Canon 18-200mm lens. This tends to go with me everywhere. If I go out with the photography group or I am planning a day of photography then I take my bag that will include a further 2 lens 70-300mm and 17-85mm. I like wildlife photography so use my 70-300mm a lot for this, I would like a much bigger one to capture those shyer animals, but they are very expensive, even second hand! I've tried a tripod and don't get on with it, so have never used it.Feedback
Take a course on how to capture moving images and then pop down to your nearest wildlife reserve or bird sanctuary and practise those skills.
