Location
This image was captured in my back yard. Near Tyler TexasTime
This image was taken in late afternoon. I have seen these hawks in the back several times but was never able to get my camera setup quick enough to get a good shot. Well I happened to have my camera this day sitting by the back door. The hawk was perched on the tree in the image watching my neighbors chicken coup and as he launched I got the perfect snap.Lighting
The lighting was just right that day. The trees behind the bird diffused the light very well. It was still light outside so ambient was niceEquipment
This image was taken with a Canon 7D MKII with a 300L 2.8. I had the camera resting on a manfroto monopodInspiration
I love taking wildlife images. I don't take the time to do it near enough so when I do have an opportunity such as this I jump!Editing
This image was cropped, color corrected, with a splash of noise reduction in Lightroom CCIn my camera bag
I have two different setups. My heavy load is 1D mkIII, 7D mkII, 16-35L 2.8, 24-70L, 70-200L, and 300L with a couple of 580EXII's. Then I have a weekend get away setup that includes a Sony a6000, 18-55, 55-210, ipad, extra batteries, and a colorspace UDMA storage device.Feedback
I have been shooting for several years and some times luck is just on your side, be patient, enjoy what you do, and by all means BE PREPARED at all times. You never know when an opportunity like this will present itself.
