Behind The Lens
Location
On a day out in London - I'd gone to photograph the Christmas lights.Time
This was taken at twilight - just before 5pm on 22 December. The ideal time for slower exposure, as the light is low, but not night levels.Lighting
The light enabled me to use a slower exposure, so i could capture the movement of the bus.Equipment
Nikon D200 with Sigma 28-70mm Lens, on a manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
I wanted an image that showed London as the iconic, living city that it is.Editing
The image was taken in colour. i then used photoshop to covert one layer to black and white, and to increase the contrast giving it more depth. I then selected the Bus from the colour layer, and increased the colour saturation slightly to make it stand ourt more.In my camera bag
If I'm going somewhere photographic, I usually have my Nikon (currently a D3200), with a 28-7o mm Lens, a 55-300mm lenas, and a Speedlight flashgun. I also usually have a gorilla pod with me, and sometime carry my Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
Patience is the key - I took a dozen images of buses going over the bridge, but this one had the bus in the right place moving at the right speed.
