This photo was taken at the top of the Rockefeller Center in New York City looking at the Empire State Building and New York’s skyline.Time
I remember this moment, we spend 3 months in New York City with a friend and we waited a great day to go up there and try to get a nice shot of the Empire State. I love it when the clouds are here in numbers… it makes the scene more interesting. This was at the end of the afternoon in May.Lighting
It was a great light that day in NYC, not too aggressive, I like to play with the natural light.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon 5DmkII with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L Lens. I didn't used any tripod.Inspiration
This view is one of the “To do” in NYC, I wanted to have the best view of the Empire State Building.Editing
Yes, I did. As you can see I wanted to bring a bit of darkness to the photo, with the clouds, it is a little bit threatening. I wanted NYC to look like Metropolis. In my camera bag
Usually, my bag contains my Canon 5DmkII, a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L Lens, a Flash Canon Speedlite 430EX and Rode VideoMic Pro to make videos. And now a Fujifilm X100F for street photography mainly.Feedback
As usual, what I am teaching to everyone traveling with me: Enjoy the place first! Especially for tourist places. Take your time, enjoy the moment, look with your eyes, make your memories… then, start to think about taking few photos, just a few, not dozens, there is no point, think first, shoot second. The photo should be a great “one-shot” of the memories you made. Usually, nowadays people are jumping around taking hundreds of photos with their phones but when they leave, they don’t have any memories saved… sad.
