This photo was taken at the Tower of London in 2014. It was an exhibition of over 800,000 ceramic poppies...one for each lost life during 'the Great War.' The display was to commemorate the lives sacrificed for freedom.Time
This was taken late morning around 10-11 o'clock. I had come to my favorite city as a tourist and found this extraordinary display of lovely red poppies.Lighting
This was taken in daylight, partly cloudy morning shot. London skies can be a little dreary at times, but there was enough of the sun peeking through to provide a great shot without flash.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon J3 using a 100mm lens. This was taken in daylight, no flash using an automatic setting with color isolation.Inspiration
I love history and I love England. This display really touched me. I especially loved the flowers cascading from the window like liquid flowing. I've read that our ancestors memories live in our DNA and from the first time I ever went to the United Kingdom, I felt as though I belonged there, my spirit home. I was very moved by the "feel" of the display.Editing
I use a basic windows editing program that came with my computer for this picture. When editing, I tend to minimize the highlights to give the photo greater depth. Of course I increase the saturation and temperature when needed and add a little clarity. When I want to get fancy and add writing, I use Pic Monkey. That program has a lot of free options but you can also add more options for a small yearly fee. I'm kind of new at all of this and plan to learn more about Light room and other programs soon.In my camera bag
I currently have a Nikon D3300 with a 18-55 mm lens, a 55-200 mm lens, and a 50 mm lens. My next purchase will be a wide angle lens, but this hobby is not cheap! To me it is so worth it though.Feedback
