Location
This photo was taken in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia. There is only two ways into the park; hiking and by helicopter. It took us two days to hike into the park.Time
We had to climb a ridge known as the nub to get this angle on Mt. Assiniboine. With an early morning start we arrived at his location around 10:00 am.Lighting
The lighting was strongly affected by nearby forest fires. The smoke ruined any chance of early morning light, but latter in the day created a very soft and warm light.Equipment
I used a d700 and a nikkor 18-200 mm and a circular polarizing filter.Inspiration
I always wanted to visit Mt. Assiniboine and new it was a once in a life time trip. I shot the mountain from numerous different locations but when I hot to his spot I new it was a keeper. The left over snow, glaciers, mountains and lakes all came together in beautiful layers.Editing

I carry a lot of equipment on a regular day, I've been told more than once my pack weighs a million pounds. Since I took this image while backpacking, I'll give a break down of what I carry on such a trip. A d7000 as its my go to body. A 18-200 nikkor lens, it's a great lens easy to pack. A 50mm f1.8 and extension tubes for macro work. If I expect lots of macro work I will pack a flash. A ir remote and lite tripod. I also carry a circular polarizing filter and a 10 stop filter.Feedback
Never stop looking for a better angle. Never be satisfied with the first shot. If you keep looking for a better shot you will be rewarded.
