it was night time when I spotted the yin yang of the pictures in the shop it caught my eye and I looked to the left for the perfect subject to walk by I have an intuition I am grateful for when it comes to this "decisive moment" (I am told) the rest fell into place.Lighting
the store was crucial for the light To cast a slight silhouette to show the connection of the man and the relationship of the photos (Middle East) and the west of the lady to the right (photo)Equipment
I always shoot canon and fujifilm primes mostlyInspiration
as a street photographer I have a connection with the streets from a young teenager its hard to explain it happens with your senses you feel the shot smell the air that puts you into that frame of mind where things happen naturally its your senses that play a big part of it all you are in your photos every one of them because it was those senses inside you that reacted just before the shutter goes of ,street photography is something which is very much about the feelings and emotions that make the shot good, bad, ugly just like life that's why I love it and why I captured this shot.Editing
i love grit ,black and white I played around with those basics grain shows that just like life it's not always smooth. In my camera bag
x100s fujifilm or XT1 and sometimes Canon 5D, lenses from 28 mm 50 mm 35 mm (24-105 mm rarely) (I have learnt to only use one camera now and one lens it is so much better that way it lets you grow changing cameras and lenses all the time I found is not a good thing with street photography so don't worry about the latest and all that because it's not important getting out there with your one camera and your 35mm or 50 mm and stick to it ! It will really do you good "remember this advice"Feedback
Don't try too hard firstly and most importantly, 2,don't become a gear head stick to your camera one lens(on the streets) you will become more creative on the streets I have a few cameras (from when I was a beginner ,"big mistake")but I have learnt that pre occupation with buying this and having the latest of this only confuses you and stuns your growth as a street photographer. 3, get out there as much as you can so you become proficient on the streets with your camera and timing ,also the fear factor of taking photos of people slowly turns into confidence and people sense that and are not intimidated by you. 4 ,do not be a sneaky photographer on the streets you will not last long you will lose the trust of people. 5 study the greats look at their photos for inspiration Cartier Bresson Is one that is so great because his photos are a treasure trove of what it's all about but look at as many photographers as possible Elliot Erwitt is another ( I love his humour in his photography) the last thing I can think of right now is important,,"Do it your way, experiment and remember you are doing this beautiful genre for you and if anyone likes it then that's a bonus but not what is all about ,it's all about you and your passion for photography"
