Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken by accident. I had just been diagnosed with Optic Atrophy (a condition that kills that optic nerve. Once it's dead I'm completely blind). I have always taken photos, and to cheer me up my eldest daughter literally dragged me out of bed and said we were going out. It was bitterly cold (-8c) and the sky looked like it was on fire. I took several photos, with intention, not liking any of them. To me they just looked blurred. She told me to take another one...just in case it was okay. So I took this without looking, then put the camera in my pocket. It wasn't until she downloaded it on her computer that I actually saw it.

Time

It was 7.30am, October.

Lighting

The lighting here was incredible. It was beautiful. But all gone once the sun rose a few minutes later, dissipating the clouds and the rays.

Equipment

The only 'equipment' is a simple point-and-shoot camera. Nothing fancy or expensive.

Inspiration

My daughter's nagging and encouragement. "You're not blind yet."

Editing

Nothing.

In my camera bag

Only my camera.

Feedback

Good eye sight or not, don't waste the time you have. Lighting, colours...everything can change in an instant. Take the photo as soon as you see something. If you don't, the image could be gone in a heart beat.
