Location
I took this in my small home studio. This is my girlfriend and photography partner, Misty. It was one of the first times we used our studio, shortly after setting it up. I did her makeup too. :DTime
This was taken LATE at night. We had just bought our studio set, and couldn't wait till morning to try it out.Lighting
I don't have much studio experience, but I used 3 lights. One hair light, one main light, and one fill. I position the model first, and then I turn one light on at a time. I feel that doing it this way really helps with the overall lighting, instead of trying to center the model around 3 lights that might not be set up just right.Equipment
I used a Canon 70D with a tripod. I have shaky hands, and I didn't have the brightest environment, and I don't own any flashes yet, so to prevent blur and camera shake, a tripod is a must have!Inspiration
I'm a big fan on surreal images with experimental editing. I would have to saw that Richard Pryde and Amanda Diaz both inspired this photo.Editing
I desaturated the image. Then I added hints on pink and green to the highlights and shadows. I then used the extrude filter in photoshop, along with a motion blur around the edges. I didn't touch her eyes.In my camera bag
Canon 70D, 18-135mm lens. That's all. It works for me!Feedback
Simplicity and experimentation are your friends. I used pancake batter for some of the makeup and played around with a few effects in PS until the photo looked good. I try something different with every photo, which I think is the key to improvement!
