Morning from the lands end on the east side of Socotra, a Yemeni island off the horn of Africa. We spent a week exploring the island's unique ecology, mountain ranges, caves, and marine reefs. Unlike the mainland, Socotra is a relatively safe, if difficult destination to reach. It's good to know that there are still places where you can find three pound conch shells strewn on the beach, ride old tortoise shells down massive sand dunes, and explore ancient shipwreck inscriptions in the 3km caves.
