Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was Taken at Beverly Shores, Indiana.... Along the Indiana Dunes National Park in Northern Indiana. It's the southern most tip of Lake Michigan.

Time

Around 4:30 pm

Lighting

Just Natural Light for that Time of Day, I was lucky that the weather produced beautiful Clouds and fairly large waves for Lake Michigan.

Equipment

Canon 7D, 18-200 @ 18mm, f11, 1/1250, iso 320, Manual Hand Held..... 5 Image shot vertical Pano....Processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CC

Inspiration

This is one of my favorite places to relax, and the day was Exceptional, I just wanted to try and capture that....

Editing

Raw Pano was combined in Lightroom along with basic color correcting, Used Photoshop to remove some distractions...(Trash cans, sign, Two People), Used NIC to enhance contrast in the clouds sparingly.....

In my camera bag

Canon 7D, 70-200 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 50 f/1.2, 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 .... three 580 flashes, various filters, RadioPopper triggers, various light modifiers.

Feedback

Some day I will afford a Full Frame Camera, Until then I've learned to use my 7D to do this type of image, ( this is the first release 7D). The key is a Good Wide Angle lens....Some times I rent a 11-14 Zoom from Lens pro to go, The Images are better yet especially Night Photos because the lens is f/2.8 and I can get a big piece of sky without shooting multi Images....But I still do Multi Image Night Pano's with that lens. Don't think you have to have a Full frame camera to shoot Landscape Photography.... Just get a good wide angle lens... and learn to shoot Pano's...:)
