Location
On the Farm, Boplaas between Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa.Time
Early morningLighting
We drove drove past the farm the previous afternoon and saw the Terns feeding on platannas in the dam. They were flying away with the food to feed their young. I immediately phoned my friend Lola Brink, who owns the farm to get permission to go to the dam. Unfortunately the light was too sharp and sun's angle not good for photography. We returned early the next morning and waited for the birds to arrive. And they did !! With beautiful morning light we had a ball photographing for about an hour.Equipment
Canon 7D, Canon 300mm f2.8 lens and 1.4 converter. Had my mono-pod but found hand holding easier.Inspiration
The terns were in beautiful plumage, the excitement of the feeding frenzy and being able to get a background that was not only blue sky.Editing
Just levels and slight sharpening. In my camera bag
My Canon 7 D, Canon 300mm f.28 lens, 1.4 converter, mono-pod.Feedback
Being in the field. Opportunities for photographs often present when least expected, especially when you enjoy nature. Make sure the light is what you are looking for as well as the back ground. And enjoy!!!
