Holy shades of Genesis! Like "Let There Be Light" even. Golden hues crown the heavens gloriously .. and meanders emphatically hugging the coast. Rays piercing through the cloud cover. A calm, contented sea. Cacti silhouetted... an silent witness to the deepening dusk. Truly a lovely piece of art.

Behind The Lens

Location

In the Galapagos on the island of Rabida

Time

Late afternoon after hiking on this bright red volcanic sand. It was around 1700.

Lighting

The oranges and the gold glitters really caught my eye. I wanted to get the cactus in the lower left in the photo because there was some gold glitter from the sunset casting down on the thorns. So I did not aim for the entire sun.

Equipment

A Nikon D 3100 with zoom lens, 50-200mm. F/18 No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

Stunning gold and orange colors. It was so earthy I had to take it.

Editing

No I didn't.

In my camera bag

My equipment bag is getter bigger. I have a tripod-stands up to 5 feet and my zoom lens as well as my 18-55mm lens. My husband gave me a mammoth Sigma 150-500mm lens. It is quite heavy and I am still learning to use it satisfactorily. Just bought a few other gadgets to play around with.

Feedback

Obviously, timing is important. I would say don't think too much just shot!
