Location
Photo was taken on a back trail along the Salt River near Mesa, ArizonaTime
this photo was taken on a morning hike. Was able to watch her and her mate for several minutes. took this shot after she landed on a dead tree at about 9:30 A.M.Lighting
Since Arizona is blessed with significant sun from fairly early in the mornings this shot was taken under full sunlight and a very blue sky.Equipment
used a Canon 70D camera (hand held) and a Canon 100-400 lens.Inspiration
had been watching this eagle pair for several weeks and when she landed on the dead tree just seemed like an excellent combination.Editing
do not remember doing any post processing as most of my shots from this time were as recorded by the camera. In my camera bag
Normally have a 70D Canon with a Tamron 150-600 lens. depending on how long I expect to be out I may carry a Sigma 24-70 and if I expect wild life to be at a fairly close range I will take a Canon 100-400 which is the lens used with this shot.Feedback
Any advise I could provide would be to plan on spending significant amounts of time with whatever wild life you are trying to photograph and learning the habits and patterns of the particular animal/bird you are watching. In this case the Bald Eagles seemed to frequent a particular set of landing locations. Other eagles in the area avoided the locations frequented by this particular set of eagles.
