I love your mountain shots! I have been to Canada a few times fishing and loved the scenery! A beautiful place to live and photograph.

Location
This photo was taken in Canmore, Alberta as I followed the trail along Policeman's Creek the first year that I moved here from southern Ontario. As I came around the bend in the creek, there was an opening across the river and this shoot loomed up in front of me; and while I did have to stand in the creek to get exactly the image I wanted, I think it came out pretty well :)Time
Taken in the later afternoon of a gorgeous fall dayLighting
I wish I could say that I had to fight to get the lighting just so... but the reality is, that with a few very minor editing adjustments, this was the scene as it appeared to meEquipment
The camera I regularly shoot with is a Nikon P500 (Coolpix) ..... and this shot was just a simple hand held.... using a little bit of the zoom power in the lens just to narrow the fieldInspiration
I wish I could say that there was a special factor in taking the shot... but the view itself was more than enough inspiration. Simply, the shot was too beautiful not to take :)Editing
The standard minor adjustments I take with most of my shots.... slight upping of the midrange contrast, a little brightening in the shadows, some sharpening .... and some slight cropping .... but nothing fancy....In my camera bag
I was one of those guys who used to carry the 40lbs of equipment ... tripods, extra lenses, flashes etc.... especially in my film days .... but these days I usually carry little more than my Nikon P500.... yes it isn't a DSLR..... and yes there are those who argue that there are lots of things a shot like this is missing because I don't carry 40lbs and $ 5,000 worth of equipment ..... but for me this camera is a nice lightweight thing to have with me and it has enough features that I can capture almost any shot I want with my estimate of a 95% satisfaction rating ...... plus.... and this is a big one.... I can carry it anywhere and shoot anytime without hours of planning and setup.Feedback
The easy and joking answer is .... live in a place in the Rocky Mountains and .... walk a lot ....... but more importantly.... NEVER leave your camera at home..... 80% of the shots I take are a result of something I see as I'm out and about that catches my fancy or that I think is "sceneworthy" and I've taken 100's of postcard type scenic shots just as a result of getting out.... I'll walk, on average 25km a day in all sorts of weather and vary my routes regularly, and I have taken some out of the way trails (or often trailbeaten) just because I think there might be something interesting around the corner. Equally important..... some of the shots I've taken which have gained a lot of admiration and attention are NOT images that are my favourites BUT I have recognized that they may well be someone else's "cup of tea" and so I have shot them anyhow..... the point being ... take lots of shots of "interesting" things.... you won't present them all... you may not even like them all.... BUT Every shot is a unique point of view ..... In the case of this particular shot... just for the record... it is one of my all time favourite shots and I was very lucky to have caught it ...
