SunsetLighting
It was somewhat difficult for me as I was very inexperienced at the time. Although it was sunset it was shot in almost dirext sunight so it was pretty blinding when my little brother wasn’t in the perfect spot.Equipment
Nikon D3200 with the 18-55mm kit lensInspiration
At the time this was shot I was incredibly inexperienced but also incredibly inspired by other shots I’ve seen on social media. I was very into silhouettes and I felt like jumping hay bails was a pretty common thing to do in the south so I thought it would be fun to get a silhouette of a younger person doing that. I used to jump across hay bails all the time growing up!Editing
There wasn’t much post processing involved mostly saturating the sunset colors more and deepening the shadows and decreasing the highlights to create a more dramatic effect. In my camera bag
Nikon D850; 50mm f/1.8; Robinson 14mm f/2.8; 70-300mm; tripod; shutter remote; flashlightFeedback
Silhouettes are very dramatic and I’ve learned have to be shot in a very specific but limited amount of lighting. I believe sunset/sunrise would be best for natural light. In my opinion, it’s easiest when the light is directly behind your subject but at a distance depending on your shot as a whole. Natural lighting brings out the most beautiful colors in the sunset/sunrise. I’ve always wanted to do one at sunrise when it’s foggy to create more intensity.
