Location
I took this photo on my porch, outdoors in Provincetown, Massachusetts. A wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow turned ordinary objects into glistening works of art.Time
I believe it was about 10am when I snapped this shot. The day was overcast with a bright white morning light. I was drinking a cup of coffee, looking out my porch door at all the ice when I noticed this old broom leaning against the railing.Lighting
For me this photo is remarkable for its interplay of light and form. The icicles created a kind of dissonance from the flow of the broom bristles. As the water dripped off the bristles and froze, it changed direction to go against the sweep!Equipment
This was shot with a Fuji FinePix S7000 Aperture: f/3.0 ISO: 200 Exposure: 1/150 Focal Length: 18/1 No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I like to take photos of images that tell a story. This worn out old broom told me about a big weather event that happened during the night. When I snap a picture I am usually trying to capture the proverbial thousand words.Editing
Very simple post-processing using basic iphoto editing software. In my camera bag
I normally don't have a bag. I'm an amateur when it comes to equipment. I'll use any device available to capture an image that speaks to me. I was quite fond of my Fuji FinePix S7000 camera but I broke it. Now my nearest available device is an iphone.Feedback
There are stories all around us. Listen with your eyes. Pick up a camera whenever an image speaks to you.
