Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo by the fountain lake at the Apartment Complex I live in .I love hanging out there just to take pictures specially now that is Spring time (well almost Summer) because there's a lot of colorful insects and pretty weeds around the edge of the lake. I also love the bluish color of the water as a background of my subject.

Time

This was taken around Noon

Lighting

I always use Natural Light! because its the best and always free! and i make sure that my camera settings matches the light source so i won't end up with blown out or overexposed image.

Equipment

This was shot with Nikon D5200 with 18-55mm kit lens , a set of extension tubes, and a +1macro filter.

Inspiration

I was just bored and decided to go out and take some pictures! LOL ;)

Editing

In this image i used Lightroom5 to adjust the exposure because it came out a little bit dark and added some vibrant and clarity adjustments.

In my camera bag

Camera, prime lens 35mm 1.8g, small tripod, zoom lens 55-200mm, 18-55mm , camera remote, set of extension tubes, filters, lens hood, reverse ring, and a set of back-up batteries and sd card. and oh the micro-fiber cloth! i always clean my lenses before i shoot.

Feedback

I am just a self-taught photographer and still learning .. so to capture something similar i always set the camera and lens on manual mode and manual focus. For exposure settings use a fast shutter speed around 1/160 or higher,(especially when shooting handheld), large f-stop number around f/8 or higher, and ISO around 200-400. When composing my image i always have to lay on my stomach, sit or kneel on the ground to have a good view of my subject and it helps to make the camera smooth and steady specially when I'm shooting a very tiny and/or moving subject. and of course a lot of PATIENCEEE i mean A LOT! lol good luck!
