This photo was taken under the Largs Bay Jetty, Adelaide, South Australia. I was fairly new to photography at this point and was always on the lookout for a photo opportunity and love to frequent this area as it is so peaceful and serene.Time
This photo was taken in December 2013, approx 11am. I remember I had just been grocery shopping and was on my way home and as I was driving past I just had to stop and go for a walk as the beach looked spectacular that day and I felt drawn to it. Luckily I carry my camera with me, but unfortunately couldn't spend too long there as my groceries were awaiting me :)Lighting
It was a bright sunny day and nearing 12pm when the sun is high and strong. I had the shade from under the jetty with the light strong on the right hand side and glare on the water. Cloud cover managed to soften the harshness of some of the light. ISO 100 f/16 1/200 .Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 60D and 55-250mm Canon lens only.Inspiration
As mentioned above it was a spur of the moment thing. The fact that I was drawn to the beach on my way home from shopping and just liked the look and feel of the jetty and water on such a beautiful day.Editing
I converted from RAW. In PS6 I adjusted the mode to Grayscale and then tweaked the levels and curves and that is it.In my camera bag
I carry my Canon 60D. 18-55mm & 55-250mm kit lenses. Also Canon EF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM, Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM, Canon EF 85mm f1.8 USM. I'm currently in love with my Macro lens and the small details I am able to capture as I'm very intrigued with the detail in wood, peeling paint and rust on objects.Feedback
Although I broke the rules and shot this at the worst possible time of the day I was still able to work around it by lowering ISO and an aperture of f/16 and in a shaded area underneath the jetty. Ideally the golden hours would have been perfect for that soft dreamy light but unfortunately it's not always possible in the spur of the moment when you just get drawn to something beautiful and you capture the moment as you are feeling it. I'm all for experimenting with different light and situations but mostly just have fun and let your passion take you wherever it may lead you.
