This is one of many pears in my orchard, it is now in a jam jar with some ginger and sugar, great on toast

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Private Mansion that I am the House Manager for. The fountain sits within a walled area protected from the wind.

Time

It was a cold and icy morning, I remember it well as it was a rare occasion that I was late for work due to traffic. It was one of those mornings that at first makes you feel cold and slightly down but then it shows you something beautiful like the iced fountain. It did not last long as the temperature rose. When I saw it , it reminded me of one of the chandeliers in the house only I think much more amazing as nature often is. The iced fountain is now immortalised in this photo for all to enjoy.This is why the camera is such an amazing piece of equipment.

Lighting

The light is all natural, although I made sure the sun was behind my back to eliminate glare

Equipment

I used my trusty old Canon 10 d with a 80 -200 canon zoom

Inspiration

It resemblance to a chandelier and the beauty of the icicles. This is the first time I have seen this icy creation, so I thought it must be kept for all to see.

Editing

The only post processing carried out was the circular framing, it just helps the eyes focus centrally on the fountain and also makes it have the quality of a piece of art

In my camera bag

I always carry a 200-350 zoom , 80-200 zoom and a 28-70 macro as well as a sky blue filter which I use most of the time when taking out door shots. I also have lense wipes and some optrex for my eyes as constantly looking down the lense of a camera can make very tired cloudy eyes and convince you that you are in phocus when your just off.

Feedback

Always have your camera with you, take lots of pictures from different angles, kneel down, stand on something, lay down . This will enable you to snap something at an angle that people dont normally see it from.
