Thankyou. I have never been that sure of it myself but it seems reasonably popular.

Behind The Lens

Location

I was working in Strood at the time, just across the River Medway from Rochester in Kent.

Time

My shift was finishing just before Sunset and I went straight to the bridge to catch the last light.

Lighting

The sun has sunk into the haze just before reaching the horizon which accentuated gold the but it was still a little too bright to be in the the frame so I positioned it just off the edge.

Equipment

I was using a Nikon D50 with a portrait zoom.

Inspiration

Walking home from work the previous day I had seen how pretty it looked as I crossed the bridge. There was a haze captured within the river valley by an inversion which is quite common in this spot. The next day I brought my camera to work hoping it would be as nice as the day before.

Editing

I increased the saturation in Photoshop to bring the gold light out.

In my camera bag

I don't carry much in my bag. I like to carry a 50mm prime and a telephoto zoom. The filters I carry are just a polarised and a few neutral density filters. I also carry a tripod when I am going to a particular spot.

Feedback

The light colour in this shot was all to one side and I used the boats to lead the eye to the brightest point.
