Location
The picture was taken at the short falls at Battle Creek near Mineral, CATime
The photo was captured about 4:00pm in March 2015Lighting
The picture was taken on an afternoon with a light cloud cover. The sun was shining from the right casting a slight shadow effect.I used an ND filter to soften the water.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon 7100, Nikon 2.8 24-70 equipped with a Kenko Pro 1 ND filter while balancing on a hillside with a tripod.Inspiration
I was searching for an old powerhouse along Battle Creek when I came across the falls and couldn't resist trying to capture the beauty of the water cascading down over the rocks amid the pine covered shores.Editing
Slight processing to crop and adjust the exposure. In my camera bag
I am just starting to build my equipment so I can advance i the world of photography. I have a Nikon D810 and 7100 with a ,a Nikon 2.8 24-70, an ND filter, polarizing filter. Nikon 16-35, 85mm and a 70-200 , 200-500mm and assorted flashesFeedback
I enjoy taking pictures of water in motion. It takes some experimentation using ND filters to get the exposure to soften the rushing water and give it a frosty, milky look. Try setting up your camera on a tripod alongside the water with the filter on the camera and start taking different exposures until you capture the style that appeals to you. (always use a remote for the camera to avoid jarring the camera)
