Behind The Lens

Location

I took this at a local village fete just after beginning my photography journey. I love birds of prey and this one was part of the display on the day. There was several birds on display, and when they were not flying they were on the perches on the ground for you to take photographs of them. The backdrop was some plastic sheeting tied to the barriers around the birds

Time

If i remember it was taken at about 11.00 am. I didn't have a tripod or monopod with me so all the images taken that day were handheld.

Lighting

It was quite a bright sunny day and that was the light source. I had a bit of shade from some nearby trees, but overall it was just natural lighting

Equipment

I was using a Nikon d3100 which is an entry level camera and old Tamron lens, I believe it was an old 18-300 mm lens but cannot remember. I did not need to use flash as people were discouraged from using it as it could scare or upset the birds

Inspiration

I love all types of nature and wildlife. These hawks were a great way to get some great close up images of a bird of prey

Editing

Not too much other than really cropping the image and possibly removing any dust. As said i was only just starting photography and still learning things. I never really did much PP at that time

In my camera bag

Not much at that time as i only had the d3100, the 18-55mm kit lens and this small cheap Tamron 300mm lens.

Feedback

If there is a local fete its worth checking out as there could be some kind of show put on which gives you an opportunity to get some great photographs
