The cloud formation is pretty standard around here in the summer. A couple of years ago, I started experimenting with textures on my images. What I do is nothing like the Instagram texture thing. I try dozens of textures to find what works best with the image. I selectivly apply to sections of the image multiple textures using Photoshop Blend Modes and layers. Sometimes I like the color change from the texture but not the texture, so I am able to remove the texture in Photoshop but keep the colors. It can take a lot of work and it is very easy to get carried away with the process so the use of layers is very important. That is a long way of saying that the red color that you are refering to is from one of the applied textures.
