The photo was taken in a field on a farm in Irene near Pretoria, South Africa. It is a beautiful place to go to. The photo was taken while on a workshop and I decided to go the brenizer method route for this.Time

I am a big fan of being able to show the background with some colour as well as having the subject in proper exposure. A good way to get this is with a nice large reflector to punch some light back, when normal speedlights are too small for the suns power.Equipment

The idea that came for this photo was her beautiful red hair with the blue sky, to get that nice complimentary colour. It is a lot more pleasing than trying to shoot inside and lose the opportunity for such a beautiful Autumn coloured scenery with the beautiful blue skyEditing
It is a brenizer method, 3 landscape photos taken and turned into a vertical panorama. Slight basic tones adjusted for her skin tone and the white dress as well as to try bring a little more blue into the sky. Then a bit of skin softening used to make her look more even toned on most of her body.In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mk III, 24-105 f/4 L, 16-35 f/2.8 L Mk II, 70-200 f/2.8 L IS Mk II. 3 x 600EX RT speedlight, ST-E3-RT (remote trigger), 24 piece pack of penlight batteries, Cable release and various Lee Filters that I use when doing Landscapes and Fine Art with waterscapes. Not exactly in the bag, but I also always have my tripod with me, with a geared head (I will be looking into getting a ball head and a panaromic head at a later stage) especially with portrait sessions, when staying in one location and trying to get consistent angles for a few shots, the tripod is essential, plus it is also a good way to not have too much weight to carry during the shoot itself, camera on tripod is a lot lighter than holding it in your hands the entire day :DFeedback
Lying on the job is nearly a must with this :D taking a photo while lying on your stomach will let you have the horizon at the bottom of your subjects feet instead of having it cut through the middle or parts of your subjects legs. Or use a tripod and bring a small camping chair if you can carry the weight around. You being relaxed and having energy to work gives your subject the right mood and atmosphere to work with you in the same way. Some advice I can give is from my experience, download a colour wheel app on your phone and start looking where you can see different complimentary colours, triad colours and start working like that to help draw a more pleasing image to the eyes. For the ones who are just starting out or say that they are natural light shooters only (the ones that say that from fear of flash) remember that a reflector can really go a long way to also help with shoots in Natural light, without the reflector the sky would have been blown out and one would have lost a bit of the green from the scenery as well. Autumn is a beautiful time of year if you are in a country that allows one to be outside during this season. And being on a location in a field even if it is just grass and trees is always more fun than trying to be stuck in a small studio. Scout locations near you and try to see where you can get permission to shoot. I am not one of the believers of shoot first and ask for permission after, I prefer being upfront and asking first, good old better safe than sorry. But that is just my personal view.
