Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a little island near Fajardo a beautiful coast town in Puerto Rico, the island is called "Palominos" and is part of a little archipelago of the north east of the Island of PR.

Time

This photo was taken around 11:00 am as we walked on the shore of the beach on the coast of the small island of Palominos. It was a casual photo as the model was enjoying the walk on the beach looking for a shade to shelter, notice the stark contrast of light and shadow.

Lighting

This photo session was a bit difficult to develop, partly because of the place, a deserted secluded little island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean that lacks basic services, but still beautiful. The other difficulty factor was the time when I take the picture, near noon. Use direct natural light, it can be noted in the expression of the model that the sun was at its maximum. Despite the technical problems of lighting, I love this picture. The colors and composition met with each other in a good time and place and I take advantage.

Equipment

I love my Gear. This time I use my Canon 1D MKIII in combination with Canon lens Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, I found this lens sharper than the F2.8 Version. This is one of my favorites at any time. Making him company were a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens, a Canon Speedlite 600EX Flash in a pelican case, cause we are in a boat. Also on this trip I carry my Sirui K-40X Ball Head over my Induro CLT404L best tripod combo i found on my budget.

Inspiration

Love the sea. It was one of my favorite places as a child and still is. When I think of that beautiful ocean and the white sand, I immediately think of a tanned beautiful woman walking near the edge of the beach, having fun. This idea picture inside my head was the inspiration for this photo.

Editing

Almost always in the portrait scenery, we must retouch quite a lot, especially if the photo was taken outside in the hot sun on the middle of the day. In this case Adobe Bridge (Camera Raw) and some Photoshop tools were used to enhance the colors and retouch skin.

This is a difficult question, since I'm a fan of the bags. But in general is always with me my Tenba Discovery backpack with my Canon 7D and my Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM and Finally my Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM
