This beautiful flowering plant is called a fritillary plant. It is native to the rugged mountains of southwest Asia. These blooms are found in my country garden here in the Pacific Northwest. It gives off an unpleasant odor that repels any plant eating predators. It's striking beauty outweighs any unpleasant odor.
