My first try using the Sigma 120-300mm 2.8. I was just out for a walk with family & spotted this little fella in the trees.

First try at capturing this amazing orbiter.

Location

This picture was taken just outside Bangor Co Down

Time

It was taken at around 2:00pm

Lighting

The highlights on the rocks in the image was a cloud break just as I took this image. Previous to this the sun was hidden.

Equipment

This picture was taken using the Nikon D7100 with a Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4. I used the Lee Big Stopper.

Inspiration

This was just the second time I had used the Big Stopper & had seen similar images on various photography pages. I had researched the map to see if I could find somewhere in the area that looked interesting.

Editing

This photo was edited in Lightroom 5. I done some dodging & burning to the rocks to enhance them. I also used so sharpening.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my D7100, Sigma 17-70, Big Stopper & my Mantona Scout tripod. I also use the MB-D15 battery grip so as not to run out of power during my trip.

Feedback

The best thing to do in my opinion to to research pictures of the area you want to travel to so you don't waste your time if the area isn't suitable.
