Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Dubai in one of the arterial roads which provide a view of the Dubai Skyline which includes the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa. i was standing in the side of the road while taking this picture

Time

This picture was taken in the evening just before the sunset. it was a cloudy day and a cool day at one

Lighting

Taking silhouettes always needs one thing for sure, the light is behind the subject matter, the subject being the skyline of Dubai. The sun was behind the clouds and was just starting to shine through the gap and made taking this picture possible. I look at points which would make the picture stand out. Here though the sun was off the main subject, Burj Khalifa, it gives a picture of how tall the building is.

Equipment

i think this is slightly funny as i used the Iphone 5 camera for this. i had my other camera Nikon D7100. unfortunately i couldnt use it due to battery dead taking a lot of other pictures.

Inspiration

i was driving down to another location when i was seeing this cloud. i was wondering it would be nice to take a photo if the sun comes out so i can take a silhouette. and behold, the sun did come out. I was so excited to feel like my thoughts coming true. so i parked the car in the side of the road immediately, and took a photo with my Iphone as quickly as possible because the sun was setting very quickly and i had a short duration to get my picture. the thought coming true was the one inspiration i needed to take this picture

Editing

No editing other than getting the brightness and contrast right. no photoshopping involved.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Nikon D7100 and D5100 with a 18-55mm, 10-24 wide angle lens and a 150- 500mm telephoto lens. i also carry a fish eye lens, but dont use it as much.

Feedback

The only advice i can give is keep your eyes open for anything which would catch your eye. its all being in the the right place at the right time with the right equipment. if i had another chance,(clouds are very rare and few in Dubai) i would go back to the same location with my camera fully charged, memory cards empty and wait for the moment.
