Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in my conservatory, as a backdrop I used a clothes airier with a black sheet draped over it, camera on a tripod and the book and wooden men on a small table. tried various positions but prefer this one.Time
Think it was mid morning on a rainy day.Lighting
my conservatory provides nice light and saves the need for flash, it may look as if the flash was used but that's only because I have it set for external flash use.Equipment
just a fairly ordinary tripod , my Fuji HS50EXR bridge camera ,Inspiration
I am looking to be different, and have had this photo commended in a club competition.Editing
Not really cropped it a little and darkened it but only in PicasaIn my camera bag
Camera usually in a large Kipling shopping bag, so as not to attract unwanted attention, pen and note pad, small reflector as I often take photos of fungi and put camera on floor, this helps reflect light on underside of mushrooms ect. , a small bag of bird food, don't carry tripod too bulky s will use any wall or the camera strap pulled taught around my neck to steady itFeedback
look for something different don't follow the crowed, use day light rather than flash, take lots of shots practice makes perfect, take photos you like, listen to the judges and experienced photographers but always remember its only their opinion . Always strive to improve . A camera is only as good as the person using it, even the most expensive equipment can take a rubbish photo. imperialise, experiment and enjoy.
