This photo was taken in Newport Kentucky in a part of town know as MainStrasse (ironically enough, a German style village, used for this Venetian styled session!)Time
Even though this photo was converted to black and white, the golden hour light that evening allowed me to capture the perfect sunburst in this photo.Lighting
Sunlight during the winter can be difficult to work with sometimes, but when taken advantage of appropriately, it can create a really beautiful effect!Equipment
For this session I hadn't upgraded my equipment yet, so I was still using my Nikon D5100 and 18-55mm kit lens. Just goes to show, the equipment doesn't make the photographer!Inspiration
I created a series of styled bridal shoots based on my travels in Italy. I created the masque and styled this image after Venice Italy, the most beautiful place I've ever seen. To have been able to recreate Venice in Newport Kentucky, while challenging, was completely rewarding!Editing
For this image I had a hard time choosing between black & white and color, so I did both! Otherwise, very little post processing went into creating this image.In my camera bag
Now that I've upgraded my equipment, my go to's include my Nikon D750, Nikon 50mm f/1.4, and Nikon 85mm f/1.8. I love my primes!Feedback
Get creative and shoot some things for yourself! I had a lot of fun designing and styling this session. There were a lot of challenges that came with this session though. I had to figure out how to make the light work for me, and work to create an authentic image. It took a lot of time and research, but I loved every minute of it!
