Roebling Bridge
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge spans the Ohio River between Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky. When the first pedestrians crossed on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet (322 m) main span.[3] Today, many pedestrians use the bridge to get between the arenas in Cincinnati (Paul Brown Stadium, Great American Ball Park, and U.S. Bank Arena) and the hotels, bars, restaurants, and parking lots in Northern Kentucky. The bar and restaurant district at the foot of the bridge on the Kentucky side is known as Roebling Point.

Ramps were constructed leading directly from the bridge to the Dixie Terminal building used for streetcars. These provided Covington-Cincinnati streetcars "with a grade separated route to the center of downtown, and the terminal building was originally intended to connect, via underground pedestrian passages, with the never-built Fountain Square Station of the infamous Cincinnati Subway."[4] When streetcar service ceased in the 1950s the terminal was converted to use as a diesel bus terminal. The ramps were removed in 1998 when it ceased being used as a bus terminal.[

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the Covington, Kentucky side of the John A Roebling suspension bridge, looking at Cincinnati, Ohio. This bridge opened on January 1, 1867 and was the longest bridge in the world at 1057 feet.Roebling later designed the Brooklyn bridge spanning from NYC to NJ over the Hudson River of 1595 feet, which surpassed the length of the Roebling bridge.

Time

I was in a training in Cincinnati, Ohio and was able to hire a taxi driver to take me across the bridge and wait for me while I got the picture I was looking for. I took this picture on November 18, 2015 at about 7 pm.

Lighting

I used F21 to closed the shutter and create the stars.

Equipment

I used a Canon T2i to get this shot, a generic tripod, no flash, and probably a stock lens for this shot!

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo by the lights of the city. I don't live in a big city, so this shot was something I had wanted for a long time.

Editing

For post processing, I applied an HDR filter. Easy peasy!

In my camera bag

My bag is always packed with my Canon D60, a prime 85mm, the standard kit lens and a Tamron 75-250? 1.2. Nothing special, nothing fancy.

Patience, patience, patience. Study Ansel Adams...create the picture matted and framed on the wall before you click the button.
