Location
Blue Lagoon Beach Resort, Yasawa Islands, Fiji.Time
As far as I remember, this was when the couple was having lunch, so around noon.Lighting
This image is clearly completely naturally lit. Nothing special with lighting here, apart from the sun at noon.Equipment
Olympus E-PL1 with an Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 IIR. The shot was handheld, and I didn't use any other out of the ordinary accessories.Inspiration
I really wanted to capture the beauty of this amazing island resort, and share it with the couple who was getting married. As establishing shots always help couples reminisce over their marriage location, I thought to try my best to capture this amazing scene as best as I could.Editing
All I added was a slight saturation boost to really bring out the blue hues, but not too much to overkill it. I also added a bit of clarity to make everything look slightly sharper. I can't remember now, but I think I may have also cropped it slightly. Apart from that, this shot is essentially straight out of camera. In my camera bag
Right now? I've got one Nikon D7100 body. Love this camera. Read so many good reviews about it, and none have been wrong so far. From amazing high-ISO performance (for an APS-C sensor), to great dynamic range and image quality. It's definitely a pro quality camera for crop sensor cameras. I carry a Metz AF-44-1 speedlite, and a Nissin D644 Mark II speedlite for those darker shots that need a bit more light. To trigger these, I use Pixel King triggers. Love them because they're relatively inexpensive, plus they support Auto-FPS, and have loads of group/channel combinations. I also carry a Nikon 50mm F1.8 AF-S lens, and have just ordered the Tamron 24-70 F2.8 VC lens, as a lot of people are raving on about it.Feedback
Considering this is a landscape shot, the only really good advice I could give to anyone is to venture out of your area, and try finding amazing locations which are hidden gems. This resort definitely isn't the biggest (only around 6 rooms, and 4 dorms), and I only really had the opportunity to go here due to a wedding, but planning trips to areas that you think are amazing is definitely a great start. Next would come time of day. It was low-tide at this stage, and the sun was at its highest peak. If I took this shot a few hours later, the entire image would have looked different, due to the suns position, and the tide.
