What a great shot. It's got everything - light, composition, texture, execution. I love it!

This photo is actually a composite edit of two photos I have taken. The wave was taken during sunset and the image of the sky was taken during the sunrise. I loved both of the images so much that I decided to put them together to make one beautiful photo. This was the first composite image I have ever made and for a beginner I'm pretty proud of how it came out. Every photo I take is a great growing experience for me and a great opportunity to open my eyes to new techniques in the beautiful world of photography.Time
Sunrise and sunset are two of my favorite times of the day. I always try to wake up as early as I can to catch the sunrise and the day I caught this sunrise was a lucky one. I enjoyed sitting on the beach with my camera in-hand and my toes in the sand and waiting for the clouds to sweep out and the sun to start popping up. As for the wave image, which was taken at sun down, I usually do the same thing. After a long day, one of the most relaxing sounds is hearing the ocean rub against the land and watching the effortless motion of it all. Since the waves where I live are particularly small I go about knee deep into the water to catch the beautiful detail of the miniwaves.Lighting
The lighting in both of the images are natural from the sun.Equipment
Both of these images were taken with my GoPro Hero 3 Plus. This is definitely an awesome little camera that packs a mighty punch. Since it's waterproof and rugged, I love taking it everywhere with me to capture moments at any time. Also even though it doesn't have the same photo quality as my Nikon, it's waterproof as I said before and is definitely a cheaper alternative to buying expensive waterproof housings for DSLR cameras.Inspiration
The beauty of nature is definitely my largest inspiration- not just for this photo, but for most photos I take. No matter where you look in nature there is always something amazing to be seen. Waiting for the sun to rise and break through the clouds or watching it drop below the horizon and seeing the last light hitting the clouds is definitely something amazing to see. No matter how many times I see it I never get tired of it, it's always something different. And the ocean is just incredible. Every wave is different and knowing how powerful the ocean truly is and seeing it be so gentle at times blows my mind.Editing
I usually do adjust my photos after I take them. I love to see them pop. Unfortunately my laptop is broken at the moment so the only programs I use are on my phone which are Adobe Lightroom and Afterlight as a secondary editing app. For this photo particularly I used the Union app to join the two photos together. In my camera bag
I always have my GoPro Hero 3 Plus on my at all times and I recently got a Nikon d5200 which is a great entry level dslr camera for me since I am new at using dslr's. Right now I just have the basics for my Nikon which are two Nikkor lenses (the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm). I'm making due with what I have for now but I'm trying to save up to get a lot more new equipment for my Nikon since it's something I love so much.Feedback
The best advice I can give is to always be ready for anything. Always carry your camera on you so no matter where you are, you're always ready to capture the moment. That's what I've learned through the past couple of years. Also if it's truly something you're passionate about you need to always make time for it. No matter the weather or time of day, try to get out and and explore new places and see new things and subjects will just come to you. You definitely get back what you put out when it comes to photography- always explore, always be present, always have an open mind with open eyes.
