Huge icicle hanging above my front steps. My twins named it the "E.T. Phone Home Alien Hand". Lol It measured about 5-6 inches in diameter at the widest point and was over 2 feet in length. Because I was very worried someone would be impaled by this monstrosity, I had to take as many photos as possible before we removed it. I love that you can see the shadows and tree silhouettes in the background and the way the flash makes it glean.
99% of my photos are shown without any post processing with the exception of the occasional cropping. I prefer shooting in natural light with my camera being the only piece of equipment. My pop up flash was damaged in our house fire so I have to make natural lighting work! Lol. However, this particular photo was taken before the flash was damaged.

Location
We had this, and several other, very large icicles hanging above our front porch. Our twins named this one the "E. T. Phone Home Hand"!Time
I took this the night before we had to remove it before it came loose & hurt someone. It was about 10 pm & there was a full moon that night.Lighting
The full moon made it glow!Equipment
All of my shots are handheld.Inspiration
I've always loved the intricately unique forms, shapes and colors that nature provides.Editing
It's been about 5 or 6 years since this was taken but I'm almost certain that it was only cropped. In my camera bag
Nikon D5000 that barely survived our house fire. I literally had that moment that we've all contemplated. I was given the opportunity to step inside my home for 1, closely supervised minute, to grab what was most important to me. I burst into tears when I saw my bright red, water soaked camera bag peeking out from under broken windows, wet drywall, soot & remnants of our entire lives. It's not the same as it was but I still enjoy it until we can afford another!Feedback
Take many shots at different angles & just experiment. You'll never regret taking too many images.
