I document a lot of my personal life due to a lifelong disease I have been diagnosed with called Autoimmune Hepatitis.
This impacts me severely - having to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance at the drop of a hat, spending my teenage youth in doctor’s waiting rooms, being told I will not be cured and will have to take pills every day for the rest of my life just to stay alive. It’s daunting stuff, to say I’m only 19.
The above image is named ‘Insomnia’ due to complications with my body meaning I will be fatigued all day and then won’t be able to rest properly at night. I find myself staring at the dim ceiling when the rest of the world sleeps, consumed with thoughts about my condition. This was a self portrait, taken back when I was initially diagnosed with the disease, and the moment my life was turned upside down.
