Location
This was taken in my back garden, we have an old bench which has the paint peeling from it, the contrast looked really good, and the berries from the trees were falling, one solitary berry had landed on the table so I set my camera up with a shallow depth of field and got the shot.Time
This was taken early in the morning, even before I had my morning coffee. The sun was just rising over the tops of the trees to the side so gave some nice light, and helped to lift the contrast even furtherLighting
The light on this shot was natural, with early morning sunlight, I managed to get the picture as the sun peaked over the tops of the trees, this gave a nice semi filtered light to it, and not too strong.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon EOS 400D, resting on the bench. no flash. This was my very first DSLR and right at the beginning of my photographic experienceInspiration
The contrast of the peeling bench really stood out to me, along with the bright colour of the berry, however in post the berry didn't look right and gave more of an impact when converted to black and white.Editing
The only post processing that was done on this picture was altering the contrast slightly, and converting to black and whiteIn my camera bag
These days I have a Canon EOS 600D, a selection of lenses and filters. I always carry my travel tripod with me. and often take my Yongnuo 565EXII flash. This flash has been my best purchase so far, the effects that can be created with such a cheap flash are amazing.Feedback
This was taken back when I was learning photography, and was still training my eye. My advice would be don't be afraid of getting a shot just because the area is familiar to you, you may feel that others won't be interested. Once I had the shot and saw it on my computer screen, I was amazed at how different it looked to me, form the familiar old bench in the back garden that in all honesty should be thrown away.
