Location
The photograph was taken in Yosemite National Park.Time
It was taken during the afternoon at Bridalveil falls. One typically gets to see a multiple rainbows at that time of day.Lighting
The lighting seemed to be perfect at the time. It was a little gloomy but the clouds parted a little and the mist from the falls created this beautiful rainbow that just had to be captured.Equipment
Just the NIKON D5100. No tripod, flash or any other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I've lived in a city my entire life. We barely get to see anything quite so beautiful due to scarce rainfall, light pollution and heavy construction. I had never seen a rainbow before going to Yosemite National Park. I know it may not be a big deal to most people but this was a very special moment for me and it was absolutely picturesque!Editing
Just played around with the white balance and contrast so that the rainbow pops from the image. In my camera bag
I started out with the standard camera (Nikon D5100) and the 8-55mm F3.5-5.6G. I slowly upgraded to the 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G lens. I always have a tripod handy just in case I need to capture something where light is scarce.Feedback
My advice would to all photographers would be, don't just limit yourselves to something that may have been photographed already. Every minute, every angle, every burst of natural light create a unique photograph that has been shaped by you. You may have to wait to get to that perfect capture. Patience is everything.
