Huan Shan is the highest mountain range in east central China. It is nor far west of Shanghai. A beautiful landscape that has inspired centuries of Chinese art. We had less than a day and a half there. When we go up in the morning we were totally socked in with fog. But the results were magical for photography. This was the best of many shots taken there.

The Interesting shapes looming out of the fog. The fog created excellent framing for the subject - the granite spires with the cypress trees clinging to the rock.Editing
No, only some minor cropping. In my camera bag
This photo was taken in 2009. Today I use a Sony NEX 6. I have the kit 16 to 50 zoom, a sony 55 to 200 zoom and a minolta 50 mm prime. I carry an ND filter and a tripod.Feedback
Of course photography is all about light, but all kinds of light create opportunities. We were on top of a mountain and my first reaction to the fog was great disappointment that there would not be any vistas. I was only there for a day so waiting out the fog was not an option. As it turns out, the fog was my best friend. Seize the moment. Worry about perfection in a studio or in the computer.
