This is so picturesque! Now make another masterpiece by making it black and white. That would be gorgeous too. Great job.

This is absolutely fantastic and such a very beautiful scene. One I certainly would be proud to have in my gallery! Paul.

Location
This picture was taken in Tehachapi, CA. It was snowing and I decided to go see if I could find some good things to shoot in the snow. When I saw this it just hit me right away. I pulled over and took a few shots. The original had a vehicle in it near the house and a horse trailer near the fence. The trees just visible through the snow set it off.Time
It was Dec 11, 2015 at 9:17am pct. Gray overcast sky, light snow.Lighting
This is the kind of shot that really catches my eye, I drive around a lot trying to find well composed shots. Many people do not go out on days like this, but I try to make it a point to go out on gray rainy daysEquipment
Using a Nikon D3100 with a 55-300mm kit lens, at 70mm, f16, 1/3s, iso 100. Hand held, shot in rawInspiration
Really what really got my attention were the trees barely visible on the hill behind the house. The house itself is just begging to have it's picture taken.Editing
At the time the only post processor I was using was NF2 and PicMonkey. I removed some antennas and pipes from the house. removed a truck and horse trailer from the yard. Did some adjustments on contrast and exposure, some high lights on the snow.In my camera bag
At that time I didn't have much to carry around, just had the kit lens. Now I have a IR modified D70 , 2 D5100 and A D7200 I recently bought. Also I now have several lens to cover just about everything I like to do.Feedback
This biggest advice would be to just get out there and try different stuff. It's digital, cost nothing to shoot a lot. Learn how to hold the camera and breath. You don't always need a tripod. Sometimes a shot appears out of nowhere and no time to set up, just go for it. Learn the functions of the camera you use. Don't always shoot inside the box, get out there and try to be different.
