Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken during my 2011 trip to Italy. These are the exit stairs of the Vatican.

Time

Around 11am-noon.

Lighting

I had a point and shoot camera and did not know how to use the manual option on it. All i wanted was to find a position that would allow maximum light to enter the lens so that the photo would not be too dark. There was natural light, but it wasn't enough for the auto mode on my camera. I had to force the flash.

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon Powershot. I did use the flash that is integrated with the camera because i did not want the picture to be too dark.

Inspiration

It was my first time at the Vatican and i had never seen stairs like this before. Leaving without photographing it was not an option.

Editing

Not being good at editing photos, all i did was highlight a little more the details on the stair rails.

In my camera bag

I've always carried with me a little point and shoot camera in case i encounter something i find worth photographing and remembering, or simply something out of the ordinary that i find interesting. Now i carry with me my cellphone, which carries a good enough camera.

Feedback

I don't find myself to be in a position to give others advices, as i am simple camera user. I don't know much about photography. All i could say is don't give up after your first try. Keep taking the same photo as many times as needed to get the perfect shot... Or at least what you consider to be the perfect shot in your eyes.
