Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania.

Time

It was about 10am and certainly wasn't expecting the weather to be this good. Dove Lake looked fantastic and I almost got the best reflection but I am not complaining.

Lighting

Even though the image was not taken at the best times of day (sunrise/sunset), the weather certainly was kind to me and showed Cradle Mountain at it's best.

Equipment

The camera I used for the shot was my Nikon D610 with a 28mm-300mm lens.

Inspiration

Doing a self drive holiday around Tasmania was always on my to-do list and I was not disappointed, in fact I will be doing it again, it is a photographers dream, even a hobby photographer like myself.

Editing

Some post processing was done in Lightroom, I am sure a lot more could be done with the image but as I said before I am just a hobby photographer and the look I achieved I was very pleased with.

In my camera bag

I don't carry too much equipment around with me, I like the 28-300mm lens as it covers everything I like to do, I have some ND filters, flash, just the usual stuff really. Not being a pro shooter I don't have different gear for different shoots.

Feedback

The only advice I would give anyone is listen and take the advice of other good photographers, look at their work and if you like it learn from them.
