Behind The Lens

Location

Gomez's Mexican Restaurant, The Village At Mammoth in Mammoth Lakes.

Time

One twilight evening, mid-February. Beautiful clear skies and cool air. Delicious !

Lighting

All natural fire light, and wetting the stone ledge under the glass did not hurt.

Equipment

This was shot with my Sony HX400V. I used the ledge to keep and the digital flip viewscreen to keep the camera low to get a steady, up close and personal shot.

Inspiration

After a long day exploring the mountains, I was enjoying a brandy with my best friend at a firepit. Just seemed like this image needed to be taken. It was a fun creation.

Editing

A bit of fine tuning in PS and then some minor adjustments in Topaz Simplify which brought back the concrete look of the ledge.

In my camera bag

Canon MII & 7D bodies with Canon Lenses EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, EF 17-40mm f/4L USM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM, Tamron SP 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di Autofocus Zoom and some others. I have also acquired a Sony Alpha a6500 (with Sony-Canon Lens Mount Adapter) for flexibility.

Feedback

Just be in the moment, and creativity will come to you. I also have learned that many times, the best photo is behind you.
