Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Nantucket in the summer of '09.

Time

It was in the afternoon and I was touring the town, when I took this shot of the docks.

Lighting

I love how the water looks kind of like a degradê, starting dark and growing lighter. I also like how many different shades of gray there are.

Equipment

I used my first ever camera, it was a Canon EOS, can't remember the model, but it was pretty ancient. Nearly ten years later, I still have it but unfortunately it stopped working ages ago.

Inspiration

It was a simple shot of the moment, nothing special, even though I remember that moment vividly.

Editing

I tweaked the contrast a little, but otherwise no.

In my camera bag

Normally I only have a camera, I'm not too great with flashes, and for spontaneous pictures a tripod takes too long to set up.

Feedback

Take the time to learn the basics (shutter speed, aperture etc.) you'd be surprised how important they are. But most importantly, be patient with yourself, you'll make mistakes until you learn from them.
